Sunday Social #2

Linking up with the ever so cute Neely and Ashley for this week's Sunday Social!

This week's questions:

Favorite movie of all time?

Oh this is so hard for me! My top 5 are: You've Got Mail, Julie and Julia, Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and Dead Poet's Society.
And of course, because I'm me, my favorite Disney movie: The Princess and the Frog and Up

Favorite movie quote?
From You've Got Mail: Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void.

Best movie to watch for a girls night in?
HAS to be Sex and the City! The ultimate chick flick, in my opinion. Who doesn't love some Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha time?! Plus cocktails. :)

Best breakup movie?
The Five Year Engagement

Favorite celeb eye candy?
Don't you know me? ZAC EFRON.

Mildly obsessed.

Which movie stars closet would you want to raid?
Hmmm...if I had the body, I think I'd like to go through Sarah Jessica Parker's closet. She's so classy!

Introducing...Tayler!

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce you all to one of my favorite Studio K alums/good friend of mine, Tayler. She blogs over at Fell Down the Rabbit Hole and she is the sweetest.

Fell Down the Rabbit Hole

I've known Tayler for 7 years now and I love her! She's adorable. She is educated, extremely well read and a great writer. Tayler has lots of great things going on at her blog right now, but I'm especially loving her Tea, Tourists and Trains series where she's recapping her time studying abroad in England and trips all over Europe. Trust me, it will make you jealous. :)

Yeah, I hacked these off her Facebook. Yeah, they are both from my dance recital. So what?! ;)

So what are you waiting for?! Click on Tayler's button and go follow her blog! I promise you'll love it. :)

Thankful on a Tuesday

It's Tuesday. I'm in the midst of a deep anxiety filled pre-Disney trip freak out. Ugh. Packing for toddlers is so hard. But anyways.

I wanted to list some things I'm thankful for today...

1. Bible School. Rory started our town's weeklong community Bible school yesterday and loved it! (Minus the whole it's duing nap time so she melted down as soon as it was over part...) She's excited to go back today. I love that she was telling me all about Noah and the "park" as she called it when she got home. Good stuff, hearing your kid tell Bible stories.

2. Starbucks K-cups. Yes, they are $2.50 more than normal K-cups but I love it. I love feeling like I went to Starbucks even though I'm still home. Here's a tip. If your husband hates strong coffee, like mine, he'll make his coffee with the same K-cup as me. It works great with strong coffee (Starbucks, bold roasts, etc) Cheaper too!

3. Mylar balloons. Super hard to pop and for $3, I got 3 balloons. My son has been rolling around on and smacking these balloons for days now. Win.

4. My Aunt Barb's pool.

5. Domino's Hot and Ready Pizza. Dinner for $5 and no cooking required on 95 degree days. YES.

6. Rainy days the day after I forget to water my plants...!

What are you thankfulf for today?

I'd Pin That.

It's Monday! And I don't have to work! I love my job but I'm loving summer break. ;) I thought I'd share some pins I'm loving this week, since I haven't had any coffee yet and my brain is on summer vacation too. :)

I'll be making this for football season! I'm doing a Steelers and Penn State themed porch this year.

How genius is this?! My sister better do this!

"disney taught me that the best way to express sadness is to throw yourself on the nearest object and sob. ha!"

My life motto. Darn you, anxiety.

This looks delish! I love queso and I'm always looking for a new recipe.

This is the chore chart I'm going to use as a guide for Rory's "Star Chart." She's really into helping lately and we decided it's time for her to have jobs around the house. Brush teeth, pick up toys, let the dog in after breakfast...easy chores but still contributing to the house!

What have you  been pinning lately?

Sunday Social #1

I'm linking up with my sweet peas, Neely and Ashley O, for the first Sunday Social! Looking for a fun, friendly weekend blog hop? This is the one! PLUS link up today for the first one and you could win a $20 Starbucks gift card.
Actually, don't link up. MAMA LOVES HER SOME COFFEE.
Okay, here we go!
How did you come up with your blog name?
My blog name comes from one of my all time favorite songs, Dancing in the Minefields by Andrew Peterson. It's about two people getting married young and having babies young. Through all the trials and tough times, they learn to hold tight to the Lord and dance through the minefields. They prove everyone wrong and that is what Dave and I do! :)
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Without a doubt, it's the wonderful women blogging has brought in to my life. I actually have GIRL FRIENDS now! For example, last weekend was my recital and I texted Becca in a panic, begging for prayer while Rory was having a major meltdown. She was right there, standing with me in prayer, all the way from Florida!
Not to mention all the fun I've had learning things from my blog friends. Neely introduced me to Birchbox, TOMS, the Naked Palette and so much more.
Plus...where would I be without Twitter?
Okay now I'm rambling.
What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without?
My Naked Palette, for sure. It's really changed my eye makeup routine for the better.

Facebook or Twitter?
TWITTER. I'd delete my FB in a hot second if I didn't use it to communicate with my students so often.

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be
Hmmm...Good question! I think I would like Sutton Foster to read my blog. Then decided to be my best friend.
If you don't know who that is...sigh. She's a Tony award winning actress who will be on Bunheads starting this week!

What is something you want people to know about your blog?
Listen, people. I have a full time job owning a business and having two toddlers. Sometimes I'm not good at replying to comments or keeping up with the blog work. I want to be good but I make no promises! Cut me a little slack! ;)

Crowning Moment.

I have lots of recital related posts scheduled but for now? I just need to share this picture.

The girl in the short fuschia dress is my studio's new Student of the Year. She has one heck of a year. She lost vision entirely in one eye and is now on serious medicine and twice daily shots to prevent it from happening in the other eye.
Through out the year, Ellie never complained ONE TIME to me about how hard things are now. Never asked for things to be changed to help her. Never took a break, never sat down to rest. Only one time did she ever ask for something and that was a bandaid when her shot spot bled more than usual. That's it. A bandaid. This kid is amazing.

What strikes me most about this picture?
Simple.
Look at the kids sitting on the floor. There's a row of standing students directly behind Ellie. They are the other awards winners. But the kids on the floor behind them are just watching. Spontaneously, they all got up and cheered. Stood on their feet and cheered on one of our own who has become our hero. The audience leapt to the feet to join in the well deserved standing ovation. I've never EVER had this happen. People usually cheer politely for my award ceremony but yesterday, it was thunderous and all for Ellie.

So deserved.

It's just life, so keep dancing through it.
